Miyun is a treasure trove for art lovers and tourists who like mountains,
valleys, rivers, lakes and other beautiful scenic spots. Located in the
northeast of Beijing, attractions include the Miyun reservoir, the
biggest in northeast China, Simatai Great Wall and Yunmeng Mountain,
Wuling Mountain forest parks.

There are also other popular travel destinations such as Heilongtan (the
black dragon pond), where you can find the No 1 fall in Beijing, Yunmeng
Mountain forest park, Taoyuan Xiangu (peach land and fairy valley), and
Wuling Mountain's Longtan pond scenic spot.

On July 28, the 2nd Miyun Outdoor Sports Festival kicked off. Besides a
new maize labyrinth and Baihe gorge for rock climbing, the Miyun County
Tourist Bureau has developed four biking and four hiking routes in the
county. These routes are for both professionals and amateurs.

The routes cover the eastern, southern and western parts of Miyun, as
well as Miyun reservoir. Bikers and hikers can pass natural scenic spots,
gaze at farming fields and fruit farms. They also pass by folk villages
where they could eat meals with local families or stay a night.

Biking routes:

1 Miyun-Taishitun-Beizhuang

Sights to see: Yuhong pear farm at Mujiayu Township, paths along the
eastern side of Miyun reservoir, Bailongtan scenic area, Beizhuan
township's Qingshui river fishing pond, Hurun farm.

Folk village and boarding: hotels within the county center, Dongfang
Yulong red wine farm and Bailongtan Xiawanzi folk village.

Miyun-Xiwongzhuang-King of fish gourmet street-Yunhu Holiday Inn-Shimayu
folk village-Mujiayu-Miyun Sights to see: scenic spots along south side
of Miyun reservoir, villages.

Folk village and boarding: hotels along the way, village restaurants and
farmers houses that offer boarding.

2 Miyun-Wongxizhuang-Heilongtan Pond-Qinglianggu Valley-Baiping
-Huairou-back

Sights to see: scenic spots along west side of Miyun reservoir, more than
10 scenic spots to pass along the way from north to south in Miyun.

3 Miyun-Gaoling-Bulaotun-Fengjiayu-Shicheng-Xiwongzhuang-Miyun

Sights to see: Bailongtan pond, Yunfeng Mountain, a huge pear farm,
scenic spots along western side of Miyun reservoir.
