雅各 -

From memory (so I could be wrong):

The former means chaos, including chaos of the mind. The second means wonton, as in wonton soup.
There are other terms for wonton, depending on where you are in China or elsewhere.

See especially: 云吞 - southern term for wonton. Wenlin also lists one of the meanings of 抄手
wonton soup. But no Chinese person has ever confirmed the latter to me.

雅各

skylee -

抄手 is also used in Sichuan to mean the food wonton.

As to 混沌, take a look -> http://cdict.giga.net.tw/?q=%B2V%A8P

The pronunciations are also different.
混沌 - hun4dun4
馄饨 - hun2tun

You eat 馄饨.
And in some Chinese version of Bible, it says before God create everything, the world is
混沌(世界混沌一片).

So they are completely different.

thanks for clearing that up! I got confused after seeing many Chinese people write 混沌 instead
of 馄饨 during my online search for the different ways of wrapping the wontons.
